No- we’re not talking about your overly saturated with syrup and a splash of coffee $5 drink. We are talking about the monster in visual effects creation, Mocha for After Effects.
Developers at Imagineer Systems have been in the VFX movie industry for a number of years now and still dominate when it comes to fast, efficient visual effects.
Here are some really solid new features the Mocha Pro 4:
- Stereoscopic 3D
- New customizable keyboard shortcuts
- Export masks to Adobe Premiere Pro
- Export to NUKE tracker node
- Python scripting support
Wolverine VFX, the Los Angeles based company, has been using Mocha for a number of years now
“If anything needs tracking or stabilizing, mocha is the number one option,” Chuck Dulin President at Wolverine VFX. “We can tackle these shots, quickly establish a steady track, rotoscope elements that cover our target area, composite, and send a mockup to the client before the end of the day.”
Wolverine has worked on numerous projects that are shot all on handhelds. The video below shows what the team composed on a handheld shot that tracked around a parked car.
The teams goal here was to intensify the gore level on the vehicle after it was in a horrific accident. Check out what they pulled off below!
“During spotting, we felt that a 3D track would be necessary to complete the effect,” notes Dulin. “Being that we typically start each shot with mocha, we performed an initial track and were impressed with the results. After some minor adjustments, we completed the composite and the shot was approved.”
There is absolutely no way of denying that Mocha is one of the most powerful visual effects tools on the market right now. The product is priced at $495 and is packed with hundreds of useful tools.
